JH Football · GMS football take their dominance on the road

Garrison Jr. High split ways Thursday night to take on two tough opponents.  The 7th grade traveled to Tyler to play the Bishop T.K. Gorman Crusaders. After a close start in the first half, 14-6 Garrison, the Bulldogs turned up the heat in the second. Avery Yarbrough set the tone with two rushing touchdowns on the night, and Jaxon Winder added in a rushing touchdown of his own. Winder contributed another touchdown with an explosive punt return. Caden Reneau joined in on the touchdown action with an electrifying 60 yard kickoff return. Avery Yarbrough showed up in some big ways on the defensive side of the ball making some big plays throughout the game. 7th Grade would go on to defeat the Crusaders 38-12.

The 8th grade faced of against 4A Brownsboro Bears. Brownsboro came out strong jumping to a 8-0 lead, but the Bulldogs responded right back. After marching down the field Antonio Yarbrough capped off an impressive drive with a 1 yard touchdown run. After a big stop by the Garrison defense, the Bulldog offense went on a 90 yard drive ending with Christian Clark punching it in the end zone to go up 14-8. The Bears responded with a touchdown of their own. But JoNathan Howard made a huge play on the two point conversion denying the Bears their two points. In the second half the battle continued on. Late in the fourth the Garrison defense took a stand on 4th down with Gavin Pollard and Jaxon Shaw making a tackle at the line of scrimmage. The victory was sealed when Colton Carroll intercepted a pass bringing the final score to 16-14 Bulldogs.
