The Garrison Bulldogs fell to the Crockett Bulldogs on both JV Thursday night and Varsity Friday night.
After a 2-hour lightning delay, the JV Bulldogs took the field in Crockett. Although Garrison fought hard to overcome the size and depth disadvantage, they could not keep up with the speedy Crockett JV team. Briley Montgomery and Isaac McCrumby made plays all over the field. Montgomery eventually lined up at five different positions throughout the night. Garrison’s JV team will take the field again Thursday, 9/24/2020 at home vs Groveton.
Friday night, the Varsity Bulldogs lined up against the Crockett Bulldogs. Crockett went up early and went into the half with the lead, but the Garrison Bulldogs never stopped fighting. Although the ‘Dogs pulled to within a score and recovered an onside kick in the final minute, they came up short in the final seconds of the game with a final score of 20-28. The valiant effort by Garrison was led by C. Bland who passed for 3 TDs to M. Gipson and M. Miller. B. King also pulled in two big receptions to put the Bulldogs in scoring position. C. Henderson made big plays on defense with 3 pass break-up and 1 interception. B. Davidson forced another turnover that was recovered by S. Edwards. S. Holmes led the team in tackles again with 19, followed by Davidson with 12, Griffith with 11, McClure with 10, Traxler with 9, Hancock and Page both with 8. The Bulldogs are improving each week and will be traveling to Groveton for the final pre-district opponent this Friday, 9/25/2020.
